![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I used the standard Maestro "classical" template and threw in a piano.Īs soon as the wizard did its thing, I went to File->Printer Page Setup. I then created a document in Finale with the wizard. (you must click on this to actually create the form) Once I clicked on the "Save Form" button, it was listed under the form I modified with it's new name. ![]() Selected "Create a new Form", gave a new name (9x12 arch A) and modified the Paper size (as shown in the pic) I first opened the print server properties as described earlier, scrolled down the list and selected a form close to what you described. I was able to create the form and subsequently use it in Finale and in the printer setup dbx. However, after going into Finale, creating a 9"x12" page size, neither the Print Page Setup nor the actual Print>Properties windows showed that form - they only showed the exact forms acceptable to my printer. I was able to do exactly as you described - ie, create the 'form' that I wanted (which was 9"x12", also known as "arch A" form). Then, from the menu bar at the top of the window, select "Printer Server Properties" When you're in "Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Devices and Printers", just select the printer you're using (don't double or right click) Thanks for the warning, and the explanation, Wiggy! Also used for making things like booklet spread order. Imposition software is what printers use to place several smaller pages onto the large sheets that their machines use. MS Word is not a DTP app! The professional packages are things like Adobe InDesign, though there are cheaper and free products. Ideally, you would use a DTP app to place each PDF on a larger page. Vectors can be printed to ANY zoom size with no jagged or blurred edges, at the maximum resolution of the printer. Bitmaps are pixels, vectors are "draw a line from 0,0 to 200, 200". Not Photoshop! Photoshop is for BITMAP images. Not sure what imposition software is, but your suggestion has me wondering whether I can get something like Photoshop to print a PDF of a Finale 9x12 page size onto the 11x17 that my printer seems to require - is this the idea? Surely you can create 9 x 12 as a custom sheet size, and trim the paper beforehand?Īlternatively, create a PDF of the document, and then place the PDF image on a larger page size in a DTP app or imposition software.įinale v.25, 2012 MacMini 2012 MacBook Pro (10.11.6)Įdirol FA-66 Roland A-49, HP Laserjet 5200 DTNĪncient Groove Music Post Edited (Wiggy) : 12:13:37 PM (GMT-5)Īpparently, my printer doesn't allow any custom sheet size - only its presets. My hunch is that this is the result of the printer's software, and that there's no way to correct it, but I thought I'd throw this out there, in case anyone else has tried something similar, and had better luck. Everything then looks correct in Finale (the systems are pushed to the left, with 2.5" space on the right, and 5.5" space to the bottom), but while the printer respects the vertical page margins, it ignores the horizontal ones, instead centering the image along the 11" paper width. To try to obtain a 9x12 score size, I've asked both Finale and my printer to make my page size 11x17, and have then set Finale's page margins so that the image, when printed on 11x17, will be trim-able to 9x12 (eg, page margins: R =. My printer (an old, office-style Panasonic) has settings for printing A4, letter, legal and ledger (11x17) size paper.
